Who we are

Gentlekin is a sole-trader pet-care business operated by Priscila Nerys, providing pet sitting, dog walking and home visits in Wokingham and nearby areas. For data-protection purposes, Gentlekin is the controller of the personal information described in this notice. Contact: info@gentlekin.co.uk.

What information we collect

When you make an enquiry or become a customer, we may collect your name, contact details, postcode and address, booking information, your pet’s details and care routine, veterinary details, emergency-contact information, and agreed key or home-access arrangements. We may also keep payment and transaction records where needed for accounting and tax purposes.

How and why we use your information

We use personal information to respond to enquiries, check availability, arrange and provide pet-care services, communicate about bookings, keep appropriate service and safety records, deal with emergencies, manage payments, and meet legal or regulatory obligations.

Our main lawful bases are taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, performing our contract with you, complying with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in running a safe and well-organised pet-care business. We do not sell your personal information or use it for unrelated third-party marketing.

How information is stored and shared

Customer information is kept in password-protected accounts and devices, with access limited to people who need it to provide or administer the service. We may share information with service providers that support the website, email or business administration, and with a veterinary practice, emergency contact, insurer, professional adviser or public authority where this is necessary to provide the service, protect a pet’s welfare, deal with a claim, or comply with the law.

Website enquiries and Netlify

If you submit the availability form, the information you enter is processed and stored by Netlify, our website hosting and form provider, on our behalf before it is accessed by Gentlekin. Netlify may process personal data outside the UK, including in the United States, using recognised data-transfer safeguards. Please do not include door codes, key-safe details or full veterinary records in the website enquiry form.

Website fonts and cookies

This website does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. Its typefaces are hosted on this website, so loading a page does not connect your browser to Google or any other third-party font service. If analytics, advertising or other non-essential cookies are introduced later, this notice and the site’s cookie controls will be updated as required.

How long we keep information

If an enquiry does not become a booking, we normally delete the enquiry details within 12 months. For customers, routine contact, address and pet-care information is normally deleted within 2 years of the last booking unless there is a reason to keep it longer, for example an unresolved complaint, claim or legal requirement. Financial and tax records are retained for at least the period required by HMRC and then securely deleted when they are no longer needed.

Your data-protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to ask for access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, or to object to certain uses of your information. Some rights depend on the lawful basis being used and are subject to legal exceptions.
